Breastfeeding & Lactation Support
An inclusive breastfeeding and chestfeeding class open to all families, offering practical, evidence-based education in a supportive, judgment-free environment. Participants will learn breastfeeding fundamentals such as:

How milk production works and what to expect in the early days

Latch and positioning for comfort and effective feeding

Common breastfeeding challenges and practical solutions

Pumping, milk storage, and returning to work or school

Infant hunger and fullness cues

Supporting informed and flexible feeding decisions
The class includes a brief, respectful discussion of African American breastfeeding history and how historical and systemic factors have shaped breastfeeding experiences and access to support. This context helps deepen understanding, promote equity, and empower all families with knowledge that supports informed feeding choices.

Ready Set Birth!
This experience unfolds over four weeks, creating space to build trust, connection, and understanding over time. Each week offers guided conversation, shared learning, and community-centered support around topics that matter most during pregnancy and early parenthood.
Together, we will explore:

Labor and birth, including the physical and emotional process of labor

Conversations are flexible and responsive to the needs of the group. Sessions are facilitated by Certified Doulas and Childbirth Educators who bring both professional expertise and lived experience, creating a supportive space grounded in shared wisdom and respect.

Our Education Workshops
Newborns: Cues, Crying & Comfort
Reading and responding to newborn communication
This workshop helps caregivers understand newborn cues, crying patterns, and early communication. Participants learn how babies express hunger, overstimulation, comfort, and connection needs, as well as strategies for soothing, bonding, and supporting emotional regulation in the early weeks.
Healing/ Recovery
This is a one-hour class focused on strengthening the abdominal core and pelvic floor muscles after childbirth. It offers gentle, effective exercises tailored to support the body's healing process, helping new mothers regain strength, stability, and confidence. Participants will learn techniques to alleviate common postpartum discomforts, improve posture, and enhance overall well-being during recovery.
Birth/Postpartum Planning
This is a one-hour session dedicated to preparing for labor, birth, and the postpartum phase. It covers key aspects such as creating a birth plan, understanding postpartum needs, and organizing support systems. This session provides parents with practical strategies and resources to ensure a smoother transition into parenthood.

You'll learn various positions and movements to use during pregnancy to prepare for labor. It covers techniques that can help reduce pain perception and alleviate common discomforts during labor. These positions encourage fetal engagement in the pelvis before labor begins, potentially aiding in a smoother birthing process. This class can help expectant parents with practical tools for comfort during pregnancy and labor.
